Promotion Seminar for the National Standard of Indoor Fitness Equipment for the Elderly and Fitness Equipment Configuration Guide for the Elderly Successfully Held

On May 23, the Promotion Seminar for the National Standard of Indoor Fitness Equipment and Fitness Equipment Configuration Guide for the Elderly was successfully convened during China Sport Show 2025. The event was attended by senior officials of the General Administration of Sport of China and representatives from leading enterprises in the industry.
 
Zhang Fan from the Public Service Division of the Mass Sports Department of the General Administration of Sport, delivered a speech urging the industry stakeholders to effectively implement the technical documents and develop scientifically-validated, smart-enabled fitness facilities tailored for the elderly. Xu Min, Director of the Shangti Health Technology Research Center, gave an interpretation of the National Standard for the Requirements of Indoor Fitness Equipment for the Elderly, which establishes scientific benchmarks for the design, manufacture, and inspection of the facilities, and regulates structural specifications to ensure the safety of elderly individuals during exercise.
 
Wu Aijun, Deputy General Manager of Shanxi Orient Fitness & Health Industrial Co., Ltd., provided guidance on implementing the standard and emphasized that fitness facilities tailored for the elderly must strictly comply with the national standards, remove high-risk equipment, enhance senior-friendly design principles, diversify equipment categories, and promote smart devices that are integrated with exercise intervention facilities.
 
The standardization of fitness equipment for the elderly serves as a pivotal driver for integrating the national healthy aging initiatives with public fitness programs.
