On August 14, the kick-off meeting for the national standard Inflatable Water Sports Goods — General Requirements and Test Methods was held in Nansha, Guangzhou. The event was organized by the China Sporting Goods Federation (CSGF) and the National Technical Committee on Sporting Goods Standardization (TC291), with participation from the China Canoe Association, Nansha District Administration for Market Regulation, Guangzhou Institute of Standardization, and leading manufacturers of water sports goods.
With the rapid rise in popularity of inflatable products such as paddle boards, dinghies, and kayaks, market demand for product safety, reliability, and performance has grown significantly. The new standard will define product categories, technical specifications, testing methods, and labeling requirements, offering manufacturers clear technical guidance while safeguarding consumer safety.
Representatives emphasized that the standard will not only fill a domestic gap but also align with international advanced practices, thereby enhancing the global competitiveness of Chinese products. As a concrete step, the initiative is expected to foster a more standardized, professional, and internationally integrated water sports industry.
