Infrastructure Guards “Safety First”: China Sport Show Defines New Standards for Venue Safeguard

Source:CHINA SPORTING GOODS FEDERATIONRelease time:2025-12-15Clicks:

In July 2024, chaos erupted at the Copa América final in Miami. Thousands of ticketless fans breached barriers and stormed into the venue, delaying the match by 80 minutes. To prevent a stampede, organizers opened all entrances, which left ticket-holding spectators locked out and triggered multiple lawsuits.

The incident exposed systemic flaws in large-scale venues regarding barrier placement, crowd control, and emergency response.

Faced with global sports safety challenges, China is comprehensively improving the safety level of sports venues-- in both standard and profession. The FIBA (China) Basketball Court Assessment Technical Specification, officially implemented during China Sport Show 2025, quantified indicators such as buffer zone width, floor flatness, and boundary safety for the first time. This marks a shift in China’s sports venue construction from "usable" to "Professional and safe".

From May 21 to 24, 2026, China Sport Show 2026 will be held at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center. The Sports Venue Craftsmanship & Equipment Section will serve as a key window for the implementation of sports safety concepts.

It will focus on showcasing sports flooring that meets national mandatory standards, smart zone systems, accessible emergency evacuation routes, and compliant designs for stands, guardrails, and buffer zones.

For venue builders, school administrators, event operators, and even families concerned about children’s sports safety, China Sport Show 2026 is more than an exhibition—it is a practical learning opportunity to overall understand how "safety is integrated into sports infrastructure."
