On January 6, the kick-off meeting for the group standard of "Mini Table Tennis Equipment and Venues" was held in Beijing. The meeting was jointly hosted by China Sporting Goods Federation (CSGF) and Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA), with relevant executives of the two organizations and representatives from participating drafting companies in attendance.
In recent years, mini table tennis has rapidly gained popularity across the country, serving as an important channel for introducing table tennis to young beginners and extending national fitness initiatives to the adolescent group. However, the lack of unified standards for equipment and venues has hindered the standardized development of the sport.
At the meeting, CTTA stated that it would collaborate with multiple parties to promote the popularization, implementation supervision, and dynamic revision of the standards, facilitating the standard to be adopted in schools and communities. He Xiao, Secretary-General of CTTA, emphasized that the formulation of the standards should align with the growth patterns of teenagers and the practical realities of campus teaching. Luo Jie, Vice President and Secretary-General of CSGF, pointed out that although the standards focused on mini equipment and venues, they carried significant responsibilities for ensuring safety and promoting development. CSGF would work closely with CTTA to take the lead in the overall coordination of the standard formulation work.
After the kick-off meeting, the attendees conducted discussions on the draft standard, laying a solid foundation for subsequent formulation efforts.
