China's natural gas consumption rises 11.9% in Jan-April 2024

China's apparent consumption of natural gas totalled 143.73 billion cubic metres in the first four months of 2024, marking an 11.9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.
In April alone, natural gas consumption rose by 11.8 per cent compared to the same period last year, reaching 35.46 billion cubic metres.
During the January-April period, the country produced 83 billion cubic metres of natural gas, reflecting a 5 per cent increase from the previous year. Additionally, China imported 43 million tonnes of natural gas in the same period, up 20.7 per cent year-on-year, as per the National Bureau of Statistics.
